What Is and What Should Never Be

Many Zep fans will have been familiar with this version ever since the first fragments of the Long Beach soundboard recording appeared on the famous Studio Daze bootleg CD. The official version, though, is not quite the same as the one heard before, as the vocal track has been altered in two places.

The first is the somewhat odd exclamation, "It's a wedding ring" at the beginning of the second chorus. This has been replaced with the more conventional vocal from the same point in the LA version, starting with the "Oh" at 1:08 and ending at 1:11 or 1:13. The second is the "No more firecrackers" plea at the end of the third verse, which has been replaced by "Nobody else" from the LA version at 2:50.
